However, the recent research and studies have brought out the fact that commercial air fresheners are featured with chemicals that are harmful for the health. These chemicals cause cancer, eyes and skin irritation and also result in increasing asthma.

There are many air fresheners and one among them is the battery operated air fresheners that are facilitated with housing so that it can be mounted to a wall like surface. The housing has a motor fitted inside and is connected electrically to a battery and a fan. A cartridge with vents defines the air flow path and is replaceable. This path carries a battery and a deodorizing substance. This cartridge being replaceable is positioned inside the housing in such a way that the battery transported by the cartridge is fixed between spaced electrical contacts coupled to the motor and thereby the fan results in air flow using the deodorizing substance.

The device in the housing has minimum one prong extends to the cartridge where as a cartridge having a receptacle receives the anti bootleg device fitting the housing such that the battery works between the space electrical contact and establishes an electrical circuit to make the fan function. But the anti bootleg device of the housing without apposite receptacle prevents the battery from fitting between the electrical contacts. Besides, the electrical circuit is incomplete in rendering the inoperative air freshener.
